Fountains & Waterfalls

Natural Pond Waterfalls are an integral part of the water garden they not only add tranquil beauty and soothing sounds, but aid in the biological filtration process. The header pool (where waterfall begins) has filter media in it where beneficial bacteria can colonize and compete with algae for its food source thus starving algae and minimize its growth. Waterfalls can be added to existing ponds. Fountains in natural ponds add visual interest, but do not aerate ponds. See Pond Aeration for more info.
